Hi, I’m Meta 😊. Welcome to my Camino de Santiago resource page. I decided to create this page as a database for information that I’ve gathered in my preparation and my experience of walking the Camino.
Here you’ll find some informations that might be considerations before your journey on the Camino de Santiago. Some of them I’ve gathered based on my experiences on the Camino.
The Camino de Santiago, also known as the Way of St. James, is a network of pilgrimage routes leading to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, Spain. These routes have been walked by pilgrims since the Middle Ages and have a rich history tied to Catholic traditions. However, today they attract travelers from all walks of life, drawn to the journey for a variety of personal, spiritual, and cultural reasons.
The history of the Camino de Santiago dates back to the 9th century, when the remains of the apostle Saint James were first discovered. As the news spread, people from all over Europe began making the journey to Santiago de Compostela. The routes gradually developed, with hospices and monasteries being built along the way to assist the pilgrims. During the Middle Ages, the Camino de Santiago was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages, along with those to Jerusalem and Rome. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and continues to attract people from all over the world, regardless of their religious beliefs.
I walked the last 119km between Tui to Santiago de Compostela through Camino Portugues between 25 April - 2 May 2024. Here are my blogs of my journey. Read the articles below.
(I’m still writing these blogs. New blog posts will be added here when they’re out!)
